John M. Jenkins

Brand strategy and creative direction for companies that are hard to explain. At Eco I set the strategy for three rebrands with the C-suite and named Bend. Before that, 15 years of campaigns for Audi, Google Nest, Call of Duty, Tillamook and Uber.

Positioning & naming
What the company is, what it's called and how it talks. Beam to Bend, Eco, then consumer to B2B.
Making technical products make sense
Stablecoins, payment rails, AI-run chip factories, explained for people who will never read the docs.
Building the brand function
Eco's in-house brand team from nothing: up to five people, a contractor bench, an AI-first workflow.
Shipping product
Six products built and shipped, including TrakMac, an iOS app rated 5.0.

Brand marketing lead, creative director

Set the brand strategy for three company-wide rebrands and repositionings, working with the C-suite: Beam to Bend, Eco itself, and consumer app to B2B infrastructure. Built the brand function that carried them.

Three rebrands, one company

Eco had to become a different company three times in three years. Each time I set the brand strategy with the C-suite, then built what carried it to market.

Beam → Bend
Beam shared its name with PayPal's first product and three others. I named it Bend, bought the domain and built the story: work within the financial system by bending around it. The C-suite signed off after one identity sprint. The brand finally had a name it could own.
Eco
Stablecoins are hard to explain, so the strategy was to teach before selling. Eco reached #1 on branded search, and AI answer engines went from naming Eco in 6% of relevant answers to 36%.
Consumer → B2B
When the infrastructure went upmarket, I repositioned the brand for institutional treasury and liquidity buyers. The Stable Economy, an episodic campaign, tied abstract rails to business outcomes.

The studio

A mom and pop tech company. That wasn't a real category until recently. In the 90s the promise was that anyone with an idea and a computer could build the thing. Code-first AI finally made it true, and a two-person studio can now ship software that used to need a funded team. We make two things: campaigns for other people's brands, and products of our own.

Client work
Direction, editing, production and creative direction, from the pitch to the edit bay. Audi, Google Nest, Netflix, Call of Duty, Tillamook, Kilz. Best Editing at the Brand Film Festival for Audi; The Drum's Work of the Week for Kilz.
Products
TrakMac, voice-first macro tracking. Fundly, fundraising where donations go straight to the school. isall.me, a link-in-bio you can run from Claude. SendRecs, a recommendation as a map link, no signup.
How it's built
I design the product and the brand, direct the build with AI writing the code, and own the architecture, auth and data. Each one ships with its own films, search content and analytics.
Why it matters
It's how I can work through positioning with a CEO in the morning, then review the cut, the build and the launch plan that afternoon.

Eco × ETHDenver 2024 · Concept, director, production

The Beam Block

Everyone at ETHDenver says crypto payments work. We skipped the booth and made the neighborhood the demo: coffee, cupcakes, BBQ and beer on Larimer St, all paid in Beam for one weekend. When organizers blocked outside food, we moved the demo to a taco vendor inside the venue the same day.

Say what you ate

A macro tracker you talk to. I designed the product, the brand and the machine that markets it, and directed the build.

Product
Say the meal and TrakMac does the math. No barcode scanner, no food database to search. I own the architecture, auth and data decisions; AI writes the syntax. Rated 5.0 on the App Store.
Films
A shorts engine built in Remotion. A script goes in and a finished vertical film comes out, with voiceover, type and b-roll. Three voices, fifteen films, rendered in two days.
Search
66 articles that answer the questions lifters actually ask, written and structured so Google and AI assistants can cite them.
Analytics
The site and the app report to PostHog in the same event vocabulary as every other site I run, with the privacy rules written before the first event fired.
